Sculpure
Carey's sculpture is figurative and imaginative, at times even playful. His piece "Black Shirts" is a prime example of that. He melded his interest in sports with his artistic skill and came out with a piece that strikes many football fans. From an angle, it is just another player, but face to face on the gridiron, the Husker shows no fear, he is to BE FEARED.
He recently completed the commissioned work "Guardian Angle" which is at the opposite end of the spectrum from the whimsical "Black Shirts". This completely serious and reverent commissioned sculpture was installed in 2017. "Guardian Angel" is a Monumental size bronze At 14 feet tall which was designed, sculpted, molded and finished in his studio, as are all of Carey's works, allowing him utmost control over the entire sculptural process from start to finish. "Guardian Angle" was installed in Mead, Colorado in December, 2017.
